Engagement Models
Three ways to work together. Every engagement starts with a scoping conversation — we'll send a detailed proposal within 48 hours.
Seypro offers three engagement models: project-based with milestone payments, monthly retainers for ongoing development, and fractional CTO engagements for strategic technical leadership. Every engagement includes project management, QA, code review, CI/CD, documentation, and 30-day post-launch support.
Pick the model that fits your stage
Switch between them as your needs change. Most clients start project-based and move to a retainer.
Project-Based
Fixed scope. Milestone payments.
Defined deliverables, agreed timeline, predictable cost. You know what you're getting and what you're paying before we write a line of code.
Best for:
Payments tied to milestones. Scope, timeline, and cost agreed upfront.
Monthly Retainer
Ongoing development & support.
Dedicated hours every month for continuous development, bug fixes, feature additions, and technical support. Scale up or down as needed.
Best for:
Month-to-month. No long-term lock-in. 30-day notice to adjust or cancel.
Fractional CTO
Strategic technical leadership.
Senior technical leadership embedded in your team. Architecture decisions, team mentoring, vendor evaluation, roadmap planning.
Best for:
Structured as dedicated days per week. Includes async availability for urgent decisions.
Included in every engagement
No line items for project management or QA. These are table stakes, not upsells.
What affects cost
Every project is different. Here's what moves the needle on scope and investment.
Complexity
A marketing site and a multi-tenant SaaS platform are different engineering challenges. Custom integrations, real-time features, and complex business logic all affect scope.
Third-party integrations
Payment gateways, CRMs, ERPs, booking channels, APIs. Each integration adds scope. Well-documented APIs are faster; legacy systems take longer.
Timeline
Compressed timelines require more parallel resources. A 4-week delivery costs more per week than a 12-week delivery for the same scope.
Team size
Solo senior developer vs. full-stack team with designer, QA, and DevOps. We right-size the team to your project — you don't pay for roles you don't need.
Engagement Questions
What clients ask before getting started
Yes. Project-based work is typically 30% upfront, 40% at mid-point, 30% on delivery. Retainers are billed monthly in advance. This protects both sides and keeps momentum.
Yes. Many clients start project-based, then move to a retainer for ongoing work. Or begin with a Fractional CTO engagement to define the roadmap, then transition to project-based delivery. We adapt to what makes sense.
Scope changes happen. We document the delta, price it, and get written approval before building. No surprise invoices. If scope shrinks, the price adjusts down too.
Every project gets a custom proposal. We offer project-based (milestone payments), monthly retainers, and fractional CTO engagements. Scope, timeline, and cost are agreed before work begins. Reach out for a detailed estimate.
Milestone-based payments are built into every project engagement. For larger builds, we can structure 4-6 payment milestones across the timeline. We do not offer credit or deferred payment.
