A regulated system is not one that never has problems. It is one where problems are caught, diagnosed, and closed before a client, a regulator, or a board finds them first. These are incident teardowns from live production work.

Symbol-mapping mismatch — caught before client statements

On a live securities exchange we operate, a symbol-mapping mismatch between two subsystems meant trades were filling but wallet postings were silently failing. We detected the discrepancy, built a live converter, and closed the gap before it reached a single client statement.

Market-feed silent death — root cause identified and closed

A market-data feed was dying silently for ~24-hour windows. The failure had been attributed to network issues for months. We traced it to a stuck connection-state flag in the feed process that the reaper logic never cleared. One targeted fix; recurring incident closed.

Redis stream bloat — multi-GB trimmed live without downtime

Unbounded market-data streams in Redis had no retention cap, and production memory was filling incrementally. We trimmed gigabytes to under 300 MB live and shipped a producer-side cap to prevent recurrence — zero downtime, zero data loss.
